Blog Post #1 Final Project Idea

  The title of my opening scene is going to be “Lost.” This opening scene will begin with a girl dressed in a long white dingy skirt and a black long sleeve top. Her hair will be long, black, curly, and wet looking. Her hands will appear to be covered in blood, her neck and face as well. This will be created using fake blood. The costuming will be created by rubbing dirt and grass along the skirt to make it look distressed. This costuming was chosen because it creates the idea that the girl is to be feared. This mise en scene creates the stereotypical idea of a scary character. The scary character that has been created is nameless to create a foreboding tone. She will be seen swinging alone on an abandoned swing whilst laughing. The setting of this shot creates an eerie ominous feeling. This character creates a mysterious feeling throughout the opening scene that is being created.  

     The next shot consists of a teenage girl awaking from a dream in which she imagined the scary character swinging whilst covered in blood. This scene will be captured by an establishing shot. This camera shot will establish the setting in which the girl is waking up in. She will be seen jumping out of bed startled due to what she had dreamed of. These actions have been chosen because they highlight the idea that she is terrified about the situation. The girl then gets out of bed and begins to walk to the kitchen. This shot is captured by a tracking shot as well as low key lighting. The low-key lighting creates the idea that the teenage girl is in distress after experiencing the dream. This lighting has been chosen because it helps the audience decode the idea that the girl is still on edge. The following shots show the girl getting ready for school.  

She misses the bus and is forced to walk to school. While she is walking, she continues to hear the scary girl laughing. After school, she and her friends were scheduled to go to the park. While they are at the park, her mother will text her informing her that she is no longer able to pick her up from the park. So, again, she is forced to walk through the woods to find her way home. As she is walking, she begins to see the scary character pop up from behind the trees laughing covered in blood. She then makes it home and begins to wash her face when suddenly the sink handle turns on. Startled, she forcefully turns it off. Suddenly it turns back on. She turns it off and begins to dry her face. She looks up to see blood running down from the mirror. Terrified, she runs to her room and begins to call 911. The camera then cuts back to the mirror to show the scary girl standing in the mirror smiling. This story has been inspired by movies such as the conjuring and insidious. The narrative will be produced by using lowkey lighting, low angle shots, and ominous sounds.  Once the girl in the mirror is seen, the teenage girls name will be revealed to be Alyssa.
