Interview questions for actress portraying the role of Alyssa. (Natalie Pridgen)
Question 1: What interests you most about this character?
Response: “The most interesting thing to me is that she has the courage to walk through the woods alone at night after dreaming of the scary girl.”
Question 2: What do you believe will be the most challenging task to film during this project?
Response: “I believe that the biggest challenge we will face during production is achieving the bloody mirror scene.”
Question 3: What are you most excited for?
Response: “I am most excited to see the film come together and turn into an amazing result.”
Question 4: What would you change about your character?
Response: “I would make my character appear more fearful of the situation. However, my character creates more suspense due to her bravery.”
My interview with Natalie gave me a clearer understanding of how others may decode Alyssa as a character. Natalie understood her character in a different way than I encoded. This is connected to halls reception theory. This is because others may view her as shy and timid. However, Natalie viewed her as bold and courageous. She was encoded to be seen as fearful yet confident. Doing this podcast interview with Miss. Pridgen made me realize the potential characteristics of the character, Alyssa.
