Blog Post #23 Filming Update

Throughout this project there has been a period of research and planning. It has come time to start the filming process. During the research period I compared my product to professional films such as The Conjuring. I studied ideas and theories such as Stuart Halls reception and representation theory. I also furthered my understanding of microelements which include cinematography, mise en scene, sound, and editing. This was significant because it prepared me to have the best techniques possible to produce a high-quality opening sequence.

During the planning period, I created timelines for myself to ensure I stayed on task. I also illustrated a storyboard. This storyboard allowed me to express all my ideas. This also allowed me to visualize my scenes and understand any shots that need to be changed. During this planning period I practiced some shots to get a general idea of what works and aids to create the encoded meaning. In the practice shot that I did, I figured out that the camera technique used helps to create the meaning that was intended. The planning period was also utilized to create an excerpt of my script. This allowed me to further my connection and understanding of my characters. The next step is to begin filming.

The filming process has been scheduled to start February 4. The first shot that will be filmed is Alyssa rising from her dream. The following shots being filmed are the ones that involve Natalie or Alyssa. This is because she is available whenever I need her. This will allow me to film all scenes that involve her. The other scenes involve Kryscelle Capistrano. Therefore, we will get together on Friday to proceed with filming the shots she appears in. This plan will allow for a smooth filming process. Following these three steps has kept me on task and on time throughout this project.
