Blog Post #50 Finishing Touches

After reviewing my film several times, I began to notice minor mistakes. The first mistake I noticed was the delayed blackout screen on the refrigerator scene. This blackout was present to create a deeper feeling of suspense. The lights turn off resulting in a dark atmosphere. However, I wanted a fully black screen. This resulted in me adding a blackout screen to enhance the effect. When I reviewed this, I noticed it was delayed, therefore, it did not create the full suspension intended. This was fixed and it now creates an intense feeling of fear.

Another minor mistake I noticed was the delay of certain sound effects such as the "La La La La" when the haunting character appears behind Alyssa. This sound was meant to create an extremely ominous tone due to the fact that the character has not spoken until that shot. This enhances the characters mysterious appeal. When this sound was delayed it created a feeling of non-realism. It also lacked the ominous feeling I encoded. This was later fixed.

The most significant final touch in my opinion, was the change of the title scene. After reviewing my sequence I made a realization that my title scene was not intriguing. This is an issue because during the title scene you want to intrigue your target audience. Because of this, I changed my title scene to a flashing effect where in each increment the mysterious character is revealed. This attracts my target audience due to the fact that my target audience is viewers who enjoy suspense. To attract these audiences, I created suspense with the flashing effect that was recently added.

It's extremely important to stay tentative to your production to ensure perfection.
