Blog Post #52 CCR 2 How my Sequence Engages Audiences and How It Would be Advertised (Podcast)

Olivia- Hello and welcome back to the lost and listening podcast. Today we have a special guest, Kryscelle Capistrano. Kryscelle would you like to introduce yourself?

Kryscelle- Yes thank you, I am Kryscelle Capistrano, and I am the actress who portrays the role of the haunting character.

Olivia- So today we will be discussing and answering a question that my viewers had on the opening scene of LOST. My viewers would like to know how the opening scene engages audiences and how this film would be advertised as a media text? Kryscelle would you like to kick us off?

Kryscelle- Yes of course. This is a great question, and I believe that this sequence has many components that make it engaging. Things such as the deep thinking it involves, and the realism created throughout which allows audiences to engage as if they were in the film themselves.

Olivia- And that was one of my goals when producing this film. I wanted to ensure that the audience was able to engage with the content. And I achieved that by implying a hidden meaning of Alyssa's struggles. The viewers really have to dig deep to understand that Alyssa is dealing with past guilt. This is what allows them to fully engage with the content

Kryscelle- Yes that is very true and I'm so glad I could be a part of this amazing journey watching Alyssa as well as my own character grow and develop the engagement needed in the film

Olivia- I'm glad you joined in on this journey with me as well as Natalie. Audiences must also have an extreme focus to the film to understand the mental issues that Alyssa struggles with. It is hinted throughout the opening that Alyssa lacks a father figure in her life. This can be understood through her words as well as the lack of a father's appearance in the production. This causes mental issues for Alyssa. For this to be understood viewers must be engaged with the film and its details.

Kryscelle- Yes, I find it so engaging to have to really think about what her character might be going through.

Olivia-Now moving on, what do you believe would be the most effective way to advertise the production.

Kyscelle- I believe that the best way to advertise for LOST would be to create an action figure of the character I portrayed.

Olivia- I think that's an amazing idea due to the significance your character has in the film. Creating an action figure that captures the characters bloody outfit, messy hair and lack of expression would surely attract a large audience.  However, I believe that creating a podcast or talk show with James Wan who is the producer of movies such as The Conjuring as well as Insidious would help immensely.

Kryscelle- Why is that?

Olivia- It would be an opportunity to get fans of his movies interested in my opening scene. James Wan had a significant impact on the decisions made throughout this process meaning that viewers of his movies would love my production. Therefore, doing a collaboration with him would bring in a huge audience.

Kryscelle- That would be amazing due to similarities in the productions you have both produced.

Olivia- I agree. Well, I think that will be all for today ladies and gentlemen I hope we were able to answer your questions thoroughly. I would like to give a huge thanks to Kryscelle for allowing my visions for this film come to life and thank you for tuning in and be sure to go watch my opening scene titled LOST.

Kryscelle and Olivia- Goodbye!
